Some airlines sell Memmingen as a Munich airport. It is a separate airport in the Allgäu, well over a hundred kilometres from Munich — and if you only notice on landing, it feels for a moment as though you are in the wrong place. Check the three-letter code on your booking: FMM is Memmingen, MUC is Munich. If it says MUC, the page you want is our Munich Airport hub.
For the Arlberg that is good news
And plainly so. Memmingen is 170 kilometres from St. Anton, Munich Airport is 230. The price follows the road: from €420 against from €640. So if you booked a cheap flight “to Munich” and land at Memmingen, you are closer to the Arlberg rather than further from it — and the transfer costs about a third less.

The Road Your Memmingen Airport Transfer Takes into the Alps
Every private transfer we drive from Memmingen takes the same corridor, whichever ski resort is at the end of it. From the airport the A96 runs south-west across the Allgäu, forty minutes of motorway to Lindau on Lake Constance.
From Lindau it is the same line as from Friedrichshafen — that is the one point where the two drives meet, or part. The border into Austria comes at Hörbranz, and immediately afterwards the first tunnel: the Pfänder at Bregenz.
Beyond it the Rhine valley opens out and the A14 runs through Feldkirch to Bludenz. There the S16 begins and the valley narrows — this is the Klostertal, past Dalaas and Klösterle, climbing to Langen am Arlberg.
At Langen the roads part. Stuben lies three kilometres further up the L197 — which is why, coming from Memmingen, it is the nearest of the resorts, closer than St. Anton. For Zurs and Lech the way is over the Flexenstraße. And for St. Anton and St. Christoph comes the second tunnel: the Arlberg, fourteen kilometres under the mountain. The toll is inside the fixed price.
One border, two tunnels, no pass. You stop at no counter along the way: the vignette and the tolls are paid before you get in. Just keep your ID or passport to hand, the children’s included.

From about three people with ski luggage onwards, a private transfer is usually the simpler answer and often the cheaper one too, because the price is for the vehicle and does not climb with each passenger. Motorway almost all the way
On this road winter has little to say. There is no pass to cross and no mountain section to drive: the Arlberg tunnel replaces exactly the part that costs time elsewhere, and before it there is only motorway — the A96 across the Allgäu, the A14 up the Rhine valley, the S16 into the Klostertal.
Where the snow still counts
The last kilometres are still mountain. For Zurs and Lech the way goes over the Flexenstraße, which can close for a while in heavy snow, and the approach to Stuben climbs out of Langen. So we run four-wheel drive, winter tyres and chains on board all season — even on the road that needs them least.
What that means for your booking
In practice that means a snowy morning moves the pickup time less here than on the roads with a pass on them. It is why the return allows 4.5 hours rather than the five to Zurich or the six to Munich. We still call you the day before and set the time with you.

Skis and snowboards travel outside on the rear rack and cost nothing extra. That is not a detail: it keeps the inside of the vehicle for the people, and a group of eight with equipment travels as one vehicle rather than two.
