After you land
After you land you go through baggage reclaim and customs as usual. Your driver is waiting beyond that, in the arrivals hall — where arriving passengers come out, not outside at the kerb. He will hold a sign with your name on it if you ask for one.
Arrival 1 or Arrival 2
Zurich has two arrivals halls, Arrival 1 and Arrival 2, and which one you come out of depends on your flight. Your driver waits in the one you come out of. The two are about fifty metres apart, so if you do end up in the other one it is a short walk rather than a problem.
What makes the meeting point certain
Three things take the uncertainty out of the meeting point. First, we track your flight number, so the pickup time moves with your flight. Second, you get your driver’s mobile number the day before, and he has yours. Third, there is a number that is answered around the clock.
If you do not see your driver
If you do not see him straight away, call before you leave the hall. Stay where you are — the driver will come to you, which is quicker than two people looking for each other across a large terminal.

The Road Your Zurich Airport Transfer Takes into the Alps
Every one of our drives from Zurich takes the same corridor, whichever village is at the end of it. From the airport the road runs east past Winterthur and St. Gallen — the fastest line towards the Arlberg — and crosses from Switzerland into Austria at Diepoldsau.
From there the route follows the Rhine valley through Hohenems and Feldkirch, picks up the A14 and then the S16 Arlberg Schnellstraße to Bludenz and on into the Klostertal. There, just short of the Arlberg, the ways part: one goes through the Arlberg road tunnel, the other climbs the mountain roads. Which one your drive takes depends on the village, and that is set out on each route page.
Two things travellers usually notice only once they are on the road are already dealt with. The drive needs both the Swiss and the Austrian vignette, and the tunnel charges a toll. Both are inside the fixed price, and you stop at no counter on the way.
The border itself is usually a formality, but it is still a border: keep your ID or passport to hand, the children’s included.

Where the drive asks something of the car
Most of the drive is valley motorway and stays clear through the middle of winter. It is the last stretch that asks something of the car: the climb out of the Klostertal onto the Arlberg, where the road rises above 1,700 metres and snowfall means something entirely different from what it meant back at the airport.
Four-wheel drive, winter tyres and chains
That is why we run four-wheel drive, winter tyres and chains on board all season. The Flexenstraße and the pass roads can close for a while in heavy snow; when they do there is nearly always another way up, and your driver knows it because he drives it all winter.
What that means for your booking
For you that means two things. First, in winter we plan for realistic journey times rather than the best time a dry summer night would give. Second, for return journeys we call you the day before and set the pickup time against the conditions that morning, instead of fixing it weeks earlier and hoping.

Skis and snowboards travel outside on the rear rack and cost nothing extra. That is not a detail: it keeps the inside of the vehicle for the people, and nobody spends two hours with a ski bag across their knees.
Child and booster seats are free and already fitted when we collect you, as long as you tell us the ages. Every vehicle is four-wheel drive with winter equipment.

Cases, hand luggage, boot bags and pushchairs travel inside with you. Passengers and luggage are two different questions, and the second one is the one people forget: eight seats do not automatically mean eight large cases plus eight ski bags. Tell us the luggage as well as the number of people and we send the vehicle that fits both.
