Private Transfers from Friedrichshafen Airport with Taxi Anton

A private transfer means the vehicle is yours alone, the departure follows your flight rather than a timetable, and the price is fixed when you book — per vehicle, not per seat. We are a taxi company based in St. Anton am Arlberg and we have been driving this road since 2011, with drivers who have known it since 1998. Direct operator, not a booking agent: every transfer is driven by us, in our own vehicles, by our own drivers — not passed on to a partner firm.

Friedrichshafen is the quietest of our six airports and, for a good many guests, the easiest. A small terminal, a short walk to the vehicle, and then an hour and a half to the Arlberg ski resorts — the flattest approach of the six, without a single pass to cross.

We drive private transfers only. There is no shared shuttle, no waiting for passengers off other flights and no stops that are not yours. Your driver meets you in the arrivals area, helps with cases and ski bags, and takes you to the door of your resort accommodation. Tolls and the vignette are included, so are child seats, and if your flight is late the driver waits at no extra cost.

Friedrichshafen Airport: The Small Airport on Lake Constance

Where the airport sits

Friedrichshafen Airport sits on the German shore of Lake Constance, in the corner where Germany, Austria and Switzerland meet. It is not a hub, and that is precisely its advantage: one terminal, short distances, and you are at the vehicle a few minutes after landing.

Why the distances barely differ

From here every Arlberg ski resort is almost the same distance away: 125–138 km, which is only 13 kilometres between the nearest and the furthest. The reason is the road — it is the same one until close to the end, and only then does it branch. The prices sit close together for the same reason, from €380 to €400 per vehicle.

The order is reversed

One detail surprises people: coming from Friedrichshafen you approach from the west, so Stuben is nearer than St. Anton. The Klostertal villages — Stuben, Klösterle, Langen — come before the Arlberg tunnel, and St. Anton and St. Christoph after it. From Innsbruck it is exactly the other way round, which is why the two airports are worth comparing before you book the flight.

Friedrichshafen Airport from the air: the runway in front, the town, Lake Constance and the Alps on the horizon behind it
The whole airport in one frame: one terminal, one runway, and the lake behind it. Your transfer to the Arlberg leaves eastwards, along that shore.

Friedrichshafen Airport Transfer Pickup: Where We Meet You

Taxi Anton driver holding a name sign at Friedrichshafen Airport arrivals, meeting guests for a private transfer to the Arlberg
Meet and greet at Friedrichshafen Airport: your driver waits at arrivals with your name on a sign — and an hour and a half later you are at the door of your Arlberg accommodation.

One terminal, nothing to go looking for

Friedrichshafen is small, and on arrival that is a gift. There is one terminal, one arrivals area, and no second building in which to miss each other. It is a few steps from the baggage belt to the vehicle — with ski bags in tow you notice the difference from a large airport straight away.

After you land

After you land you collect your bags as usual. Your driver is waiting beyond that, in the arrivals area — where arriving passengers come out, not outside at the kerb. A private transfer waits for you; you do not queue for it. He will hold a sign with your name on it if you ask for one.

What makes the meeting point certain

Three things take the uncertainty out of the meeting point. First, we track your flight number, so the pickup time moves with your flight. Second, you get your driver’s mobile number the day before, and he has yours. Third, there is a number that is answered around the clock.

Children, ski bags and groups of eight

If you are travelling with children, with ski bags, or as a group of eight, tell us when you book. The right vehicle is then waiting and the child seats are already fitted by the time you walk out.

The Road Your Friedrichshafen Airport Transfer Takes into the Alps

Every private transfer we drive from Friedrichshafen takes the same corridor, whichever ski resort is at the end of it, and it begins at the water. From the airport the B31 runs east along the shore of Lake Constance until the border into Austria comes at Hörbranz.

The first tunnel comes immediately afterwards: the Pfänder tunnel at Bregenz. Beyond it the Rhine valley opens out and the A14 runs through Feldkirch to Bludenz. There the S16 begins and the valley narrows — this is the Klostertal, past Dalaas and Klösterle, climbing to Langen am Arlberg.

At Langen the roads part, and here you see why the order from Friedrichshafen is reversed. Stuben lies three kilometres further up the L197. For Zürs and Lech the way is over the Flexenstraße. And for St. Anton and St. Christoph comes the second tunnel: the Arlberg, fourteen kilometres under the mountain. The toll is inside the fixed price.

One border, two tunnels, no pass. You stop at no counter along the way: the vignette and the tolls are paid before you get in. Just keep your ID or passport to hand, the children’s included.

A 4x4 minibus on the motorway through a snow-covered alpine valley on a private transfer from Friedrichshafen Airport to the Arlberg
One border, two tunnels and no pass: most of the Friedrichshafen Airport transfer is valley motorway like this, and only the last kilometres climb.

Friedrichshafen Airport Transfer, Train or Rental Car: How to Reach the Arlberg

There is more than one way from the airport into the mountains. Which one suits you depends on how many of you there are, how much you are carrying, and when you land.

OptionBest forWhat to know
Private transferFamilies, groups, skis, late arrivalsDoor to door, fixed price per vehicle, departs when your flight lands — an hour and a half from Lake Constance to your accommodation
Taxi from the rankShort hops around FriedrichshafenOn the meter — not built for a run across a border and through two tunnels
TrainOne or two people travelling lightSeveral changes: round the corner of Lake Constance onto the Austrian line first, then up the Rhine valley through Bregenz and Feldkirch to Bludenz, and there onto the Arlberg line. You get off at Langen am Arlberg or at St. Anton am Arlberg, depending on the ski resort — Langen is the station for Stuben, Zürs, Lech and Klösterle. From the station there is one more leg by road, and the luggage moves at every change.
Scheduled busA small budget and fixed timingLeaves to a timetable rather than to your flight, and stops along the way
Rental carStaying mobile once you are thereThe vignette, winter equipment, parking in the resort — and the Arlberg toll comes out of your own pocket

From about three people with ski luggage onwards, a private transfer is usually the simpler answer and often the cheaper one too, because the price is for the vehicle and does not climb with each passenger. Every other option ends at a station or a stop; only the private transfer ends at the door of your resort accommodation.

Friedrichshafen Airport Transfers in Winter

Driver fitting snow chains to a 4x4 minibus on the Arlberg road during a Friedrichshafen Airport transfer
Chains on board all season: the last climb onto the Arlberg is the part of a Friedrichshafen Airport transfer that asks for them.

The flattest of our approaches

Of all six airports this is the one where winter has the least to say. There is no pass to cross and no mountain section to drive: the Arlberg tunnel replaces exactly the part that costs time elsewhere, and the rest is valley motorway.

Where the snow still counts

The last kilometres are still mountain. For Zürs and Lech the way goes over the Flexenstraße, which can close for a while in heavy snow, and the approach to Stuben climbs out of Langen. So we run four-wheel drive, winter tyres and chains on board all season — even on the road that needs them least.

What that means for your booking

In practice that means a snowy morning moves the pickup time less from here than from any other airport. It is why the return allows 4 hours rather than the five to Zurich or the six to Munich. We still call you the day before and set the time with you.

Our Vehicles for Friedrichshafen Airport Transfers

Two things decide the vehicle for your private transfer: how many of you there are and what you are bringing. Passengers and luggage are not the same question — eight people each with a case and a ski bag need more room than the seat count suggests. Tell us both when you book.

GroupVehicle
1 to 4 passengersMercedes Minibus 4x4 or VW Caravelle Minibus 4x4 — room to spare for cases and ski bags
5 to 8 passengersThe same vehicle, with skis and boards outside on the rear rack
More than 8Two vehicles, one price each — tell us the group size when you book

Skis and snowboards travel outside on the rear rack and cost nothing extra. That is not a detail: it keeps the inside of the vehicle for the people, and a group of eight with equipment travels as one vehicle rather than two.

Child and booster seats are free and already fitted when we collect you, as long as you tell us the ages. Every vehicle is four-wheel drive with winter equipment.

Luggage, Skis and Equipment on Friedrichshafen Airport Transfers

Skis and snowboards

Skis and snowboards travel outside, on a rack fitted to the rear door, and they cost nothing extra. The rack keeps the cabin for the people — which is why a group of eight with equipment still travels as one vehicle rather than two.

Cases, bags and pushchairs

Cases, hand luggage, boot bags and pushchairs travel inside with you. Passengers and luggage are two different questions, and the second one is the one people forget: eight seats do not automatically mean eight large cases plus eight ski bags. Tell us the luggage as well as the number of people and we send the vehicle that fits both.

Tell us before you travel

All of it is included: there is no luggage surcharge on a private Friedrichshafen Airport transfer, and no charge for child seats either. What we do need is to know in advance, because the vehicle is chosen before the driver sets off for Lake Constance. The booking form has a field for it, and one line is enough.

Skis and boards ride outside on the rack, so the cabin stays for the people — included in every Friedrichshafen Airport transfer.

Family and Group Transfers from Friedrichshafen Airport

A private transfer is a vehicle reserved for your group and nobody else. There are no other passengers to collect and no stops that are not yours: the drive from Friedrichshafen Airport runs from arrivals to the door of where you are staying. With an hour and a half of driving and a small terminal, for a family that often means land, get in, arrive.

Travelling with children

Child and booster seats are free and already fitted when we collect you — tell us the ages when you book and they are in the vehicle before you walk out of arrivals. Children count towards the eight seats, so include them in the passenger number.

Groups of more than eight

Up to eight people travel in one vehicle with their cases and ski equipment. Above eight we send two vehicles, each at its own fixed price, and both arrive at the same door at the same time. Tell us the group size when you book rather than at the airport, so the second vehicle is planned rather than improvised.

Airport Transfers from Friedrichshafen to the Arlberg Region

Five ski resorts on the Arlberg, each with its own fixed price per vehicle for a private transfer. The order below is the order of the road rather than the alphabet: this is how the resorts come when you approach from the west — and there are only 13 kilometres between the first and the last.

We also drive to the villages of the Klostertal and the Stanzertal, which lie on the same road. If your village is not listed, just ask — the way there is the same one.

Return Transfers to Friedrichshafen Airport

The return is the direction where a clock matters. Our starting rule: leave 4 hours before departure, from any ski resort on the Arlberg. That is less than for Zurich or Munich, and the reason is above: on this road the difficult stretch is the shortest, because the tunnel comes almost straight away.

That number is the starting point, not the last word. We work backwards from your departure time: check-in, the drive itself, and what the road is doing that morning. For an early departure the pickup falls in the middle of the night — that is normal work for us, and the hour does not change the price.

Friedrichshafen Airport Transfer FAQ

Where do I meet my driver at Friedrichshafen Airport?

You meet your driver at Friedrichshafen Airport in the arrivals area, once you have your bags. Friedrichshafen is a small terminal: there is nothing to go looking for, and it is a few steps from the baggage belt to the vehicle. Your driver will hold a name sign if you ask for one.

How far is Friedrichshafen Airport from the Arlberg?

Friedrichshafen Airport is between 125 and 138 kilometres from the Arlberg depending on the ski resort, and about an hour and a half of driving. That makes Friedrichshafen the third closest of our six airports, after Innsbruck and Altenrhein.

Why does every resort cost almost the same from Friedrichshafen?

Every resort costs almost the same from Friedrichshafen because the road is the same one almost to the end. There are only 13 kilometres between the nearest resort and the furthest, and the prices run from €380 to €400 per vehicle — the narrowest spread of all six airports. Where you are staying on the Arlberg barely changes it.

Is Stuben really closer than St. Anton?

Yes — from Friedrichshafen, Stuben really is closer than St. Anton, and it surprises people. From Friedrichshafen you approach from the west, so the Klostertal villages — Stuben, Klösterle and Langen — come before the Arlberg tunnel, and St. Anton lies beyond it. From Innsbruck it is exactly the other way round.

Which tunnels does the Friedrichshafen Airport transfer go through?

The Friedrichshafen Airport transfer goes through two tunnels. First the Pfänder tunnel near Bregenz, shortly after the border. Later the Arlberg tunnel, fourteen kilometres under the mountain — that one carries every drive to St. Anton and St. Christoph. The toll is inside the fixed price in both cases.

Does the Friedrichshafen Airport transfer cross a border?

Yes — the Friedrichshafen Airport transfer crosses one border: Germany into Austria, at Hörbranz just before Bregenz. Keep your ID or passport to hand. The Austrian vignette and the tolls are inside the price.

Is the drive from Friedrichshafen difficult in winter?

The drive from Friedrichshafen is the flattest of our six approaches. There is no pass to cross: the Arlberg tunnel replaces the mountain section and the rest is valley motorway. That is why a snowy morning moves the pickup time less from here than from any other airport.

Is the private transfer price per person or per vehicle?

The private transfer price from Friedrichshafen Airport is per vehicle, not per person. A private transfer is priced for the car and the driver, so whether there are two of you or eight, the price is the same, and it is fixed when you book.

What is included in the Friedrichshafen Airport transfer price?

The Friedrichshafen Airport transfer price includes the door-to-door journey, the Austrian vignette and tolls including the Arlberg tunnel, ski and snowboard carriage, child seats, and waiting time if your flight is late. You pay nothing extra along the way.

What happens to my transfer if my flight to Friedrichshafen is delayed?

Nothing changes for your Friedrichshafen Airport transfer when the flight is delayed: we track your flight number and move the pickup to match. There is no extra charge and you do not need to call us.

Can I book a Friedrichshafen Airport transfer for a very early or very late flight?

Yes — we run Friedrichshafen Airport transfers around the clock, all year. For an early departure from Friedrichshafen the pickup on the Arlberg falls in the middle of the night — that is normal work for us, and the hour does not change the price.

Can I bring skis and snowboards on the transfer?

Yes — skis and snowboards travel free of charge on every Friedrichshafen Airport transfer. Ski and board bags travel outside on the rear rack, so the inside of the vehicle stays for the people. Tell us how many when you book.

Are child seats available on Friedrichshafen Airport transfers?

Yes — child and booster seats are free on every Friedrichshafen Airport transfer. Tell us the ages of the children when you book.

How many passengers fit in one transfer vehicle?

Up to eight passengers fit in one transfer vehicle, with cases and ski equipment, in one private transfer. Larger groups travel in two vehicles — just tell us the number when you book.

Can you take us straight to Lech or Zürs, or do we change somewhere?

We take you straight to Lech or Zürs, with no change of vehicle. One vehicle and one driver from the airport to the door of your accommodation, whichever resort it is. There is no central drop-off point; your luggage is loaded once and unloaded once.

How do I pay for my transfer?

You pay your driver directly for the Friedrichshafen Airport transfer, in cash or by card. The price is fixed per vehicle and confirmed when you book, so you know the full amount before the journey starts.

Can I cancel a Friedrichshafen Airport transfer free of charge?

Yes — Friedrichshafen Airport transfers can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup. A call or a WhatsApp message is enough.

What time do we need to leave for a flight out of Friedrichshafen?

Our starting rule for a flight out of Friedrichshafen: 4 hours before departure, from any ski resort on the Arlberg. That is less than for Zurich or Munich, and the road is the reason: no pass, no mountain section — a tunnel and then motorway.

Can I book the return to Friedrichshafen Airport at the same time?

Yes — you can book the return to Friedrichshafen Airport at the same time, and it is the easier way to do it: we then know your outbound flight and we call you the day before to agree the pickup time.

Are your transfer vehicles equipped for winter?

Yes — our transfer vehicles are equipped for winter: four-wheel drive, winter tyres and snow chains on board all season — even though this is the road that needs them least.

Who will be driving my Friedrichshafen Airport transfer?

Your Friedrichshafen Airport transfer is driven by a driver from St. Anton am Arlberg. Our drivers live here and drive this road all winter — not a subcontractor you meet for the first time at the airport.

Do you run Friedrichshafen Airport transfers in summer as well?

Yes — we run Friedrichshafen Airport transfers all year, summer included. The same private transfer and the same fixed price per vehicle — and in summer Lake Constance at the start of the drive is a reason to land here in its own right.
