Taxi from St. Anton to St. Moritz

A taxi from St. Anton am Arlberg to St. Moritz costs from €480 for one to three passengers and from €495 for four to eight, per vehicle and one way, at any hour. It is around 150 kilometres and just over two hours.

Put that next to the airport list and it looks wrong: Zurich Airport is 200 kilometres and starts at €460. Fifty kilometres further, twenty euros less. The reason is the road, and it is worth saying plainly rather than leaving you to wonder. Zurich is motorway almost the whole way. St. Moritz is motorway as far as Chur and then a mountain road over the Julierpass at 2,284 metres — slower, harder on a car, and in winter a stretch where chains stop being a precaution and become the thing that gets you there.

The Julier is generally open all year, which is exactly why it is the way in. It is one of the Graubünden passes kept clear through the winter, with winter equipment required and chains mandatory when conditions call for them. Our vehicles carry them and the drivers fit them at the side of the road — it is a normal part of a winter in this job, not an extra.

The route runs down the Klostertal to Bludenz, motorway past Feldkirch and Buchs to Sargans, on to Chur, then south through Tiefencastel and Bivio and over the pass into the Engadin. Davos branches off earlier, at Landquart — the two are different valleys and different fares.

St. Moritz has its own ski area and its own pass, unconnected to Ski Arlberg, and it is where the Bernina and Glacier Express lines begin. Guests who come to us for this drive are usually joining one of those, or splitting a winter between the Arlberg and the Engadin. Either way it is one car with the luggage in it, and at this distance that is the argument — the price does not change after dark, so an early departure costs what a midday one costs.
