Taxi from St. Anton to Sargans

A taxi from St. Anton am Arlberg to Sargans costs from €260 for one to three passengers and from €290 for four to eight, per vehicle and one way, at any hour. It is around 98 kilometres and about an hour and twenty minutes, past Feldkirch and Buchs and on down the Rhine.

Sargans is a junction rather than a destination, and that is exactly what people want from it. The line from Zurich meets the line running south into Graubünden here: it is the station where you change for Chur, and from Chur for Davos, Klosters and St. Moritz. Anyone travelling between the Arlberg and eastern Switzerland passes through it whether they meant to or not.

It is also the change on the way in from Zurich Airport. We say on our own airport pages that for one person with a backpack and no skis the train from Zurich is a decent choice — you change at Sargans, and St. Anton has its own station. This page is that sentence read backwards: the same interchange, approached from our side.

Which makes the honest version of the advice easy. If the trains line up and you are travelling light, take them. Book the car when the connection is tight, when there are four or more of you, when there is ski equipment, or when the departure is at an hour the valley trains from St. Anton do not cover. The fixed price is per vehicle and does not rise after dark, which is the part that matters for an early start.
