Taxi to Oberlech — and where the drive actually ends

Lech and Oberlech are two different taxi rides, and our price list treats them as two. A taxi from St. Anton am Arlberg to Lech costs from €81 by day and €93 at night; a taxi to Zug or Oberlech costs from €93 by day and €114 at night. Both are per vehicle for up to eight passengers with skis. Lech is 23 km from St. Anton, about 25 minutes over the Arlbergpass and the Flexen road, and Oberlech sits on the slope above it.

Most Oberlech guests travel up and down on the gondola, and that is the ordinary case. We drive into the basement of the Oberlechbahn valley station, through the hall built under the road from the Angerer garage; the luggage comes out of the car down there, the staff load it onto trolleys two metres high, and you ride up while the bags follow. They stay at the top station. The gondola runs from seven in the morning until one at night, and with a ski pass the ride is included.

The hotels with a tunnel of their own out of the Umschlaghalle are the first exception. For those we drive up the steep road to the hall — the covered one under the mountain that the delivery lorries use — where a barrier with a buzzer opens once the driver presses it. Your hotel meets you inside with an electric cart pulling a trailer: you ride in the cart, the cases go on the trailer, and it takes you out through the tunnel to the door. Above those tunnels is the piste, because those hotels have no road at all — the cart is the only way in that is not a pair of skis.

The second exception is the handful of hotels and guesthouses at the very top of the road, above the Umschlaghalle, which neither the gondola nor a tunnel reaches. Those we drive to directly, the whole way up; the village bus runs up there too during the day.

Which of the three is right is your hotel’s call and not ours — reception knows what works for their own address. Tell us what they said when you book, and that is where we drive. Lech itself has no restricted streets: in the village we pull up at the hotel door like anywhere else.

One thing worth knowing before you plan a day around it: when the Flexen road is shut for avalanche risk there is no way round. Guests stay the night in St. Anton, Stuben, Langen or Klösterle and travel on the next morning, usually after eight, once the road opens. The same road and the same three drop-offs apply when you arrive from the airport — Zurich Airport to Lech or Innsbruck Airport to Lech — and on the way home, Lech to Zurich Airport.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from St. Anton to Lech?

The fixed price starts at €81 by day and €93 at night (20:00–07:00) — per vehicle, for up to 8 passengers depending on the car. We confirm the binding fare when you book.

Do you drive to Lech at night?

Yes — we're reachable 24/7. The night tariff applies 20:00–07:00. For very early departures we recommend reserving the day before.

How do I book the taxi to Lech?

Fastest by phone on +43 664 930 66 26 or via WhatsApp. You get an instant confirmation with the fixed price and pickup time.

How much is a taxi from St. Anton to Oberlech?

From €93 by day and €114 at night (20:00–07:00), per vehicle for up to 8 passengers. Our price list carries it as Lech – Zug – Oberlech. A taxi to Lech itself is from €81 by day and €93 at night.

Where exactly do you drop us off in Oberlech?

Usually at the Oberlechbahn valley station, because most Oberlech guests travel up and down on the gondola — we drive into the basement through the hall under the road. The two exceptions are hotels with a tunnel of their own from the Umschlaghalle, which meet you inside the hall, and the few houses at the top of the road, where we drive the whole way up. Ask reception which one is theirs and tell us when you book.

What happens to our luggage in Oberlech?

That depends which of the three drop-offs your hotel uses. At the gondola the staff put the bags on two-metre trolleys and they travel up with you, staying at the top station — and with a ski pass the gondola ride is included, so it costs you nothing. At the Umschlaghalle your hotel meets you with an electric cart and a trailer and takes you and the cases through the tunnel to the door. Either way you do not carry them yourself.

What happens if the Flexen road to Lech is closed?

There is no way round it — that is the only road. When it closes for avalanche risk we find you a bed for the night in St. Anton, Stuben, Langen or Klösterle and drive you on the next morning, usually after eight, once the road opens.

Do you drive to Lech and Oberlech at night?

Yes, 24/7. The night tariff runs 20:00–07:00 — €93 to Lech and €114 to Oberlech, per vehicle. For a very early departure we recommend booking the day before.
