Price, Distance and Journey Time

Collected at Your Door, at Any Hour
Every private transfer starts at the entrance of your accommodation — the hotel, chalet or apartment you have been staying in — not at the edge of the village and not at a meeting point. Your driver comes to the hotel door, helps with the cases and the ski bags, and loads the luggage himself.
In Lech itself the car comes to the door like anywhere else. From Oberlech there are three ways it can work, and which one suits you depends on your flight: luggage down through the goods tunnel while you follow by cable car, everything together on the first cabin of the day, or — for a flight early enough that neither is running — an arrangement made the evening before. We settle which one on the call.
Early transfers are normal for us. For one of the first flights out of Zurich that means a pickup in the middle of the night, and nothing is added to the transfer price for it. Our drivers live on the Arlberg: whoever collects you at four in the morning is coming from the next village in the resort, not from two hours away, and the same holds for every airport transfer we run from the Arlberg.

The Lech am Arlberg to Zurich Airport Route
From the village the road drops to Alpe Rauz on the Flexen road, through the galleries built to hold the slope above it, then down past Stuben to the junction at Langen and west on the S16. The Flexen stretch is the part that decides the morning: it is the highest and the most exposed piece of the whole journey, and it is in the first fifteen minutes rather than the last.
The route is direct: no other passengers, no second vehicle and no stop between your door and the terminal. At Zurich Airport the transfer ends at your airline’s departures area. Checking in at Zurich Airport with ski luggage takes longer than checking in without it: oversized luggage goes through its own desk, and that desk is busiest before the late-morning flights. That is what the five hours are for.

Train, Hire Car or Private Transfers — Your Options for the Way Home
Of the three options back to Zurich Airport, one argument turns around on the way home. Arriving, public transport waits for nobody, but you get there when you get there. Leaving, the timetable decides when your day starts: you work back from the train’s departure rather than from your flight.
There is no station in Lech, and the nearest one is Langen, down the Flexen road and past Stuben. That makes the train a two-stage journey before it has started: a bus or a taxi to the platform, then the changes after it. It is doable with hand luggage in good weather. It is the wrong answer on the morning the Flexen road is the reason you are leaving early. If the train is what you want, we drive you to the platform: from Lech, Oberlech or Zug we go to Langen am Arlberg or to St. Anton am Arlberg, whichever of the two your ticket needs. With light luggage the train is a sensible choice. With a ski bag, a boot bag and children it is less often one — and a missed connection on the way home costs more than a missed connection on the way out.
