The road from Munich to Stuben
From Munich Airport the route crosses the Alps — via the Fernpass or Garmisch into the Tirolean Inntal, then west past Innsbruck and Landeck onto the S16 to the Arlberg. It is our longest and least predictable run; we choose the fastest way on the day. Stuben am Arlberg sits at the western foot of the pass, where the Flexenstraße meets the main road — reached from the Vorarlberg side before the tunnel. In normal conditions it is roughly 245 km and about 3h 15min; we plan for realistic winter timing rather than a best-case number.
Winter driving on Munich to Stuben transfers
The Arlberg is winter country from November to April. The final climb over the pass or through the tunnel can see heavy snow, ice and the occasional closure.
