The Route from Stuben am Arlberg to Innsbruck Airport
Both roads work, and the tunnel is the one we normally take. Three kilometres down the L197 to Langen am Arlberg — about five minutes — and then straight through the Arlberg road tunnel at eighty, out again at St. Anton on the Tyrolean side. The toll is inside your fixed price and you never pay it separately. The other road climbs instead: up to Alpe Rauz, over the Arlbergpass past St. Christoph at 1,800 metres, down into St. Anton from above and then through the length of the village. A climb, a descent and a village where the tunnel is a straight line — so we take the pass when the tunnel is shut, or when the day makes it the better of the two, and the tunnel the rest of the time. From St. Anton the two are the same drive: the S16 east, and from Landeck the A12 along the Inn past Imst and Telfs to Kranebitten, where the airport sits. Neither way crosses a border.
The journey is direct: no other passengers, no second vehicle and no stop between your door and the hall. Because the airport sits at Kranebitten on the western edge of Innsbruck, the transfer never crosses the city — the motorway ends within sight of the building.
Two places on that road have pages of their own: Langen am Arlberg, three kilometres down the hill, where the tunnel begins, and Landeck, where the Stanzertal ends and the Inn valley begins. We drive the same road from both.

Checking in with ski luggage takes longer than checking in without it: oversized bags go in separately. That is what the three and a half hours are for — not the drive itself, which takes about 1h 30min.

St. Anton is the other platform, further off on the Tyrolean side. What no train does is the last four kilometres: Innsbruck Airport is not on the railway, so Kranebitten is a bus or a taxi on top. With light luggage that is a sensible morning; with a ski bag and a boot bag each it is three vehicles instead of one. If the train is what you want, we drive you to the platform.
A rental car has to be returned at the airport, which on departure day is one more task with a deadline attached. The bus is the slowest of the four because it has the most changes in it.
